Family day out
From a ringing tram bell to a treetop adventure
Turn your ride on line 30 into a relaxed family day out. Travel by historic tram, get off at Amsterdamse Forest and choose an activity that suits your children’s ages and energy levels.
Your route
A practical day plan
The times are examples. Always check the current calendar and timetable before you travel.
Start at Haarlemmermeerstation
Browse the tram shop and board the historic shuttle bus to Zuiderhof (Jollenpad). Your ride on tram line 30 starts there.
Tram ride towards the forest
Find a seat by the window. Along the way, the city slowly gives way to greenery while you hear the bell and sounds of a real museum tram.
Get off at Van Nijenrodeweg
Walk to the Forestwinkel visitor centre and choose Fun Forest, the Nature Play Trail or a short walk. Book a time slot for the treetop course in advance.
Return on line 30
Take the tram back to Zuiderhof and transfer there to the shuttle bus for Haarlemmermeerstation.
Food & drink
Stop for a treat
These places fit the day plan. Walking times are approximate from the tram stop.
De Veranda
Spacious restaurant on the edge of the forest, convenient for coffee, lunch or an early dinner.
BOSS Kitchen
A convenient stop by the treetop course for lunch, snacks and drinks without interrupting your day plan.
Boerderij Meerzicht
Known for pancakes and its play area. Choose this as the destination of a longer walk, rather than a quick stop.
More to do
Choose your adventure
One main activity is usually enough, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the tram ride itself.
Fun Forest
Ten courses among the trees, opposite the Forestwinkel. Booking ahead and checking the current age and height requirements is recommended.
Nature Play Trail
A playful nature trail through the forest. It combines well with a shorter tram ride and lunch near the forest edge.
Ridammerhoeve Goat Farm
Animals, a playground and farm products. The Amsterdamse Forest website describes this as a long walk from the Forestwinkel, so allow extra time.
