After several years of running in all weather conditions, with hundreds of passengers boarding and alighting, it became time to withdraw car 816 from service because several step‑wells had deteriorated to the point where they could no longer be considered safe. After withdrawal, the tram was transferred to the Lekstraat depot for repairs. Between March and April new step‑wells were manufactured, and on 9 May they were fitted to the tram. As a result, the car will soon be able to safely carry passengers again.
